Training Center Policies

Visits to the training center are only by pre-arranged class observation appointments (walk-in or drop-by visits are not permitted). This is to ensure there are no distractions for the students during classes.

We do not offer free trial classes. We DO offer Introductory Programs which can be scheduled following a short, informal interview with the Training Center’s Technical Director.

Only members in good standing are allowed on the training floor and to use any of the equipment in the school. Spectators and visitors must remain in the designated area. This is for safety reasons and there are no exceptions.

CKJKD does not allow instructors or coaches other than CKJKD Staff to teach or conduct either group classes or personal lessons within our facility. Guest instructors and coaches may be invited from time to time by the Technical Director for specific events.

Student Training Policies

At CKJKD Training Center, participation is a privilege, not a right. We strive to maintain a positive and welcoming community where all members and guests feel comfortable and respected. The Training Center holds itself and its members to high standards of conduct. What might be acceptable elsewhere may not be here.

Respect the School Environment: All members should conduct themselves with respect, honor, and integrity in all their actions while in the school. Members are expected to treat the facility, equipment, staff, and fellow members with respect, in a manner free from discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or neurotype. Any speech or behavior deemed inappropriate, offensive, or disruptive by staff will not be tolerated.

Class Procedures

It is the student’s responsibility to be punctual for their classes. As a matter of courtesy, students shall ask the class instructor’s permission when entering class late.

Members must comply with any instructions given by school instructor staff. The Training Center reserves the right to remove any member from class who fails to do so.

Leaving Class Early: Inform a coach before class if you need to leave early, specifying the time of departure.

Any student who has an injury or medical condition that prohibits his/her participation in a certain aspect of training is excused from that portion of training.

While waiting for your class or after finishing your class, DO NOT DISRUPT THE CLASS IN SESSION WITH LOUD TALKING.

Warm up and stretches are recommended before class training. We suggest a student arrives 15 minutes early for class and warms up prior to training.

When the class instructor is demonstrating or giving instructions, DO NOT INTERRUPT, TALK TO OTHERS OR DISTRACT ATTENTION. Ask your questions after.

During class, practice ONLY what the instructor teaches unless otherwise instructed.

ABSOLUTELY NO SPARRING is allowed unless approved by and under the supervision of the class instructor or an appointed senior student. Proper protective equipment is mandatory when sparring (groin protector, mouthguard, headgear, shin guards, gloves). All sparring protocols must be adhered to, and any infringement may result in the student having to leave the sparring session.

In the event of the absence of the regular class instructor, an appointed assistant instructor or senior student will take over the class. This person is to be accorded the same respect as your regular instructor.

OPEN FLOOR periods following classes are for students to put in some extra practice either by themselves or with other members of the class. Students can work on whatever aspect of training they choose, including light sparring (with proper equipment).

Because members can come to any training session, there are no “make up” days, and missed or unused classes cannot be carried over to the following month.

Dress Code

While we do not have a mandatory training uniform, the following guidelines are to be followed when training:

  • Members shall keep their person clean and sanitary.

  • Clean and appropriate training attire is always required (no inappropriate slogans, etc.) -- No pajama bottoms, no hats or caps, no torn clothing -- If the bottom of your shoes are dirty, make sure to clean them before working out or bring a second pair you can wear during training.

  • Fingernails are to be kept short and trimmed.

  • Any jewelry that may pose a safety issue is to be removed while training.

Specific Conduct Expectations

Any member of the Training Center may be subject to immediate dismissal for teaching any aspect of the school’s program without specific written permission from the founder/technical director.

Do not get involved in situations that will jeopardize the reputation of the Training Center. Exercise your better judgment.

Any student discovered provoking a fight either in or out of the Training Center may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from the school.

If you have any questions or are in doubt regarding the training program and/or regulations, do not hesitate to consult with the class instructor or the office.

For additional Training Center Policies members should review the Student Handbook given to them upon joining. Any questions concerning policies should be directed to the Technical Director.
